If you could switch to another job for a day, what would it be?
Investment banking is a very interesting area. I am fascinated by the financial markets and how they work. I find it particularly exciting to see how complex transactions are planned and implemented in order to finance or strategically realign companies. The dynamics of the markets and their interaction with global events also always arouse my curiosity.
Which book has particularly impressed you recently?
The book HOPE by Cristina Mittermeier made a deep impression on me. For those who don’t know Cristina yet: She is a renowned photographer and committed environmental activist. With her latest work, HOPE, she presents an impressive collection of her photographs. The book inspires not only with its breathtaking images, but also with the powerful message behind them. Cristina succeeds in a unique way in making the connection between us humans and our planet visually and emotionally tangible.
Which three famous people would you like to have dinner with and what questions would you ask them?
- Elon Musk: “How do you see the potential risks and opportunities that technologies like Neuralink and other cybernetics innovations bring to humanity?”
- Jen-Hsun Huang (CEO of NVIDIA): “How do you see the role of GPUs and AI and what changes do you expect to see in the next ten years? What responsibility do companies like NVIDIA, who are at the forefront of these developments, have to ensure that their innovations are in line with the best interests of society?”
- Kevin Warwick (cybernetics pioneer): “What practical and ethical challenges do you see in the further development of cybernetics and neural interfaces? What could be the realistic benefits and risks of such technologies?”
What is your favorite quote?
One of my favorite quotes is: “Be the change you wish to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi. This quote inspires me to actively make a difference instead of just hoping for a better future. It reminds me to take responsibility and have a positive impact on others.
Is there an unfulfilled goal on your bucket list?
Yes, a trip to Antarctica. The remoteness and untouched nature and the unique, harsh climate exert an incredible fascination on me. It would be an extraordinary experience to explore this remote part of the world for myself.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that Roland will one day be able to fulfill this dream and are delighted to have him as an active member of our team.
