From developer to cloud specialist: 20 years of passion for technology and team spirit
Martin is our specialist for Azure and Microsoft 365 – and at the same time a tinkerer, idea generator and entertaining colleague. He combines in-depth technical expertise with the ability to turn complex requirements into practical solutions. He is always ready to help and his infectious laugh ensures a good atmosphere throughout the company.
A look back: From CMS to SharePoint
When Martin started at Online in 2005, his initial focus was on Day Communiqué (now Adobe Experience Manager). Even then, he used his technical skills for Internet and CMS solutions and played a decisive role in shaping the websites of cities, cantonal administrations and cantonal institutions.
The next step followed in 2008: Microsoft SharePoint. Together with the team, Martin went on to implement collaboration solutions, making a significant contribution to modernizing the way companies work together. At the same time, he completed his bachelor’s degree – alongside projects, work and family.
Innovation in the Microsoft Cloud
Martin has set standards in the Microsoft Cloud in particular. As an expert for the Online Teams Manager, he ensures that the entire lifecycle of workspaces in Microsoft Teams runs smoothly – from setup to archiving. Where APIs have limitations or change, he goes into “detective mode”: with a lot of patience, precise reverse engineering and technical sensitivity, he finds solutions that offer our customers real added value. He ensures absolute silence with his noise-canceling headphones and delves deep into the technology.
The Online team is close to Martin’s heart – he is almost always there for excursions or events. With his humorous and committed manner, he makes a significant contribution to turning colleagues into a real team. And when the traditional “Heisse-Stein” team event takes place, Martin is never missing – he is the unbeatable master of the largest portions.
Technology, gadgets and a wealth of general knowledge
Anyone who knows Martin knows that he is not only a developer, but also a tinkerer. 3D printing is his passion – and because no off-the-shelf printer would do, he quickly built his own. Today, he uses it to create useful (and sometimes less useful 😊) gadgets that can’t be bought anywhere.
He is also a walking gadget wiki: Whether it’s a smartphone, headphones or the latest tech toy – Martin knows the pros and cons. Anyone who talks to him is often amazed at his enormous general knowledge, which goes far beyond technology. It’s a real mystery when he acquires all this – alongside his work and his family of five.
Privately committed and sporty
Martin is also active outside of work. As a passionate family man, he enjoys traveling in his motorhome and loves discovering new places together. Jogging and hiking are just as much a part of his everyday life as the joy of sporting challenges. In earlier years, he even cycled from Winterthur to the office in Wil.
