Automating processes with data, our review of the SME funding cheques 2025
On 7 July 2025, we were in Vaduz for the SME funding cheques 2025 workshop and were able to provide exciting insights into how SMEs can digitize their processes through the use of data and modern tools.
The event was organized by the Liechtenstein Office of Economic Affairs. The aim was to show what digitalization can look like in concrete terms, what funding opportunities are available and how to take the first or next step towards automation with a manageable amount of effort.
Data, interfaces and concrete practice
After the welcome address by Barbara Fuchs, it was straight into the application. Andri Bernet from the Dai Group gave a live demonstration of how unstructured balance sheet data can be analyzed and standardized within seconds with the help of AI, an impressive use case that shows what is possible with technology today.
Afterwards, it was our turn. Together with Ralf Angermann, Balz Zürrer presented how we at the Online Group support SMEs in automating their processes with the help of the Microsoft Cloud and low-code platforms such as Power Apps or Power Automate.
As a long-standing Microsoft partner, we not only have the technology, but also the knowledge of how to use it effectively in practice. Our approach is always the same: it’s not about tools, but about solutions. Processes should become simpler, faster and more transparent, while fitting seamlessly into existing structures.
Three things we took away from the event
1. technology needs translation
Many SMEs have modern IT systems, but the potential is often not fully exploited. When technology is translated into an understandable language, completely new possibilities suddenly arise.
2. standard instead of self-built, if it fits
Often, something is built in-house at great expense. However, this is only worthwhile if the solution can be operated and further developed more cost-effectively in the long term than a solution based on Microsoft 365.
3. practice instead of PowerPoint
The best effect is achieved when you show live how a real process can be mapped digitally, which is exactly what we did and received very positive feedback.
Our conclusion
We are delighted that we were able to be part of this inspiring afternoon. The mix of impulses, practical examples and discussion was not only exciting, but also very close to the reality of SMEs.
For us, the event was once again confirmation that digitalization works best when it is made understandable, the benefits are clearly demonstrated and solutions are used that suit the company, whether large or small.
