Webinar review: Why vibe coding is becoming a gamechanger for modern businesses – with over 220 live participants

Insights, discussions and practical examples on the future of software development

Last Thursday, we welcomed over 220 live participants to our webinar “Why vibe coding is becoming a game changer for modern companies”. Together with Marco Denzler and Michael Kammerer, we explored the question of why vibe coding is far more than just a short-term technology trend and why companies should take a close look at it today.

Vibe coding – what’s behind it?

Marco Denzler began by categorizing the topic and creating a common understanding. Less than one percent of people worldwide can program today. This is exactly where Vibe Coding comes in. Instead of writing traditional code, specialists describe their requirements in natural language. Generative AI translates these descriptions into functioning software.

The decisive difference lies not only in the technology, but also in the approach. Vibe Coding enables people who know the company’s processes and challenges best to develop digital solutions themselves. Programming skills are not superfluous, but they lose their role as a barrier to entry. The mood, the feeling and the creative collaboration with the AI are at the forefront and give the term “vibe” its meaning.

Why the topic is relevant for companies

A central part of the webinar was dedicated to the question of why Swiss companies in particular should be looking into vibe coding now. Marco Denzler used the latest figures from PwC’s 29th Global CEO Survey, which were presented at the World Economic Forum. 54 percent of Swiss CEOs are particularly concerned about whether their company is transforming fast enough to keep pace with technological developments, especially AI.

At the same time, the economic outlook has clouded over. Many management teams are investing a large part of their time in short-term issues and neglecting medium-term development. This is precisely where Vibe Coding can make a decisive contribution. Thanks to shorter time-to-market times, requirements are implemented more quickly, innovations are created closer to the specialist area and companies react more agilely to market changes, customer needs and regulatory requirements.

Innovation shifts to the specialist areas

A recurring theme in the webinar was the shift in value creation. Studies by Gartner and McKinsey show that an increasing proportion of digital innovation is shifting from IT to the specialist departments. Gartner predicts that around 40 percent of business software will be created with the help of vibe coding by 2028.

This development brings opportunities, but also risks. On the one hand, specialist departments can develop solutions that are precisely tailored to their processes. On the other hand, without clear guidelines, there is a risk of uncontrolled growth, shadow IT and security risks. Marco Denzler made it clear that vibe coding will find its way into companies one way or another. The crucial question is not whether, but how structured and controlled this approach is used.

Practical insights with Microsoft Copilot and Power Platform

In the second part of the webinar, Michael Kammerer took over and used concrete demos to show what Vibe Coding already looks like in practice today. He gave a sneak peek at functions that Microsoft is developing around Microsoft 365 Copilot and the Power Platform, some of which are already being tested in the Frontier program.

Using a simple use case, he demonstrated how a short prompt can be used to create a workflow that analyzes incoming emails, detects error messages, automatically records them in a SharePoint list and informs the team in Microsoft Teams. What used to take several hours of development work can now be implemented in just a few minutes.

Another example showed the development of a small application for assigning sequential document numbers. Here too, a textual description of the requirements was sufficient for Microsoft Copilot to generate a functional app including data storage in SharePoint. Step by step, it became clear how the solution could be further refined through targeted re-prompting.

From gimmick to enterprise-ready solution

It became particularly exciting when looking at more complex scenarios. Michael Kammerer showed how data models, user roles and simple evaluations can already be created with Vibe Coding in Power Apps. At the same time, he made it clear that these functions are currently still at an early stage of development and should not be used productively without further ado.

The Online Group is therefore pursuing a clear approach to enterprise-ready digitalization. Vibe Coding is used specifically for the front end and quick prototypes. The generated code is then transferred to a professional development environment, versioned and supplemented with additional security, governance and backend logic. This means that code and data remain under the company’s control at all times.

Three key findings from the webinar

Marco Denzler concluded by summarizing the most important messages. Vibe coding is already a reality and will continue to prevail, regardless of whether companies are prepared for it or not. Used correctly, the approach offers enormous potential for speed, innovation and relieving the burden on IT. At the same time, vibe coding also accelerates risks, which is why platforms, governance and clear rules are crucial for long-term success.

In uncertain times, the organizations that can adapt the fastest win. Vibe Coding can create exactly this agility if it is used strategically, responsibly and with the right partner.
