Postpone retirement and continue working – a win-win for both sides
Andreas Dammann has been retired since 2022. But that doesn’t mean he spends his days on the couch putting his feet up. On the contrary, Andreas has decided that after his retirement he will continue to work and share his experience and knowledge.
Today, Andreas is employed by Online on an 80-percent stint and is still highly motivated. He develops software for the Portal4Industry EPM customer portal and specializes in importing and exporting product information with third-party systems, databases, and reports. When needed, assists the support team and responds to technical inquiries. Andreas likes the varied challenges and is proud that he can continue to use his skills. He does this on two days in the office in Wil and on two days in the home office.

Andreas, what motivated you to continue working after retirement?
I still enjoy my job and find it very exciting and varied. I am interested in new things and appreciate being able to keep learning in a collegial team. In addition, I would like to retire gradually and not be fully retired yet.
How long have you been working at Online Consulting AG?
I joined Online in 2000, so I’ve been working for our company for 23 years. I have also remained faithful to the department, only the department names have changed at times.
Was Online Consulting AG immediately willing to keep you on after retirement?
I signaled early on that I would like to continue working despite my retirement age. My managers immediately approved of this and gave me a commitment.
Is it financially worthwhile to work beyond retirement?
Thanks to the additional income, I can continue to pay into the pension fund and maintain my financial independence.
What do your environment and family think about the fact that you are still working?
The feedback was positive. My wife even approves of the fact that I am still working. She also still likes to work, so it’s a good fit.
How much longer do you plan to work?
As long as it takes. I can imagine reducing my workload step by step. At the moment, however, it is just right for me.
What do you like to do when you have time off?
I like to spend my free time in our garden. I cherish and care for our plants and planted new trees last year. I also enjoy cycling tours with the eBike very much. I have also driven it as far as Chur. I always have my camera in my luggage, because photography is another hobby of mine.
It is a privilege to continue to have Andreas on our team, as his knowledge and skills are timeless and very valuable. Our company thus creates not only a win-win situation for both sides but also a culture of respect and appreciation.
