SCHMOBI nominated with the steel portal
Our valued customer SCHMOLZ + BICKENBACH Stahlcenter AG (SCHMOBI for short) has been nominated for the Digital Commerce Award 2022 with its steel portal. The innovative B2B platform is based on the eCommerce solution of Online Consulting AG.
On June 1, at the award ceremony following SCORE!, we will find out whether SCHMOBI’s steel portal will write another success story. SCHMOBI competes with 4 other nominees in the category “B2B Services and Process Integration” to win this award
To mark the occasion, we asked Thomas Plüss, Marketing/Communications Manager at SCHMOBI, a few questions:
Thomas, what does the nomination for the Digital Commerce Award 2022 mean to you?
The nomination makes us proud and confirms our successful path in digitization. We are very much looking forward to the finals for the coveted awards, which will be presented on June 1, 2022 at the Swiss Conference for Retail and E-Commerce, SCORE! – and we are hungry for the title.
What effect would winning the award have?
The advertising impact is already high with the nomination, of course, especially on the digital channels. The profit would certainly reinforce that again. However, as a team with an affinity for soccer, we continue to look from game to game and are now focusing on the final. A master party is not planned yet, but SCHMOBI is also known as a good and spontaneous party maker.
How do you feel about the cooperation with Online Consulting AG?
Our demands on user-friendliness, functionality and quality are high. Online Consulting AG also challenges this time and again. Good partnership is a constant learning process. Ultimately, it’s the result that counts, and that’s more than respectable, as the award nomination now also shows.
To what extent has the steel portal changed your business?
The steel portal quickly established itself on the market and is used intensively on a daily basis by our customers in the Swiss MEM industry. Today, around two thirds of price inquiries are made online and a good 25 percent of order items are ordered on the steel portal. With the steel portal, we have achieved the leading position in the e-business of the Swiss steel trade.
What are the next plans in connection with the steel portal?
It is our goal to continuously optimize and develop the steel portal with a customer focus, also based on the results from our annual and representative customer survey. In the meantime, however, we have almost reached the marginal benefit. Some minor usability improvements are currently planned. We always stay on the ball, with a digital and innovative mindset.
We thank Thomas Plüss for the answers. We wish SCHMOBI the best of luck and hope that the steel portal sweeps the Digital Commerce Award on June 1, 2022.
